Oscar winning documentary film director Arnold Schwartzman obe rdi
will be travelling from his home in Hollywood, where he has lived for
the past 33 years, to his hometown of Margate in preparation for his
forthcoming documentary film, “Margate Paradiso”. The film will be
his personal tribute to Margate’s past, its present regeneration and
its future.
During his visit, Arnold has agreed to give an illustrated talk with film
clips and images selected from his large collection of Margate memorabilia.
He will speak about local events that shaped his career, such
as his days as an assistant projectionist at Northdown Road’s former
Cameo Cinema, which paved the way to his eventual move to Hollywood,
and directing luminaries including Elizabeth Taylor and Orson Welles.
