Located in the heart of Canterbury in Kent, the training camp facilities are complemented by additional sport and leisure opportunities within walking distance of the main University campus. The cathedral city is famous throughout the world and is in close proximity by car and rail to the Olympic Park in East London, and has easy access to mainland Europe.
Canterbury Christ Church University is an ideal Pre-Games Training Camp. The Department of Sport Science, Tourism and Leisure has provided sports science programmes for over 25 years, and has designated sport and exercise laboratories for biomechanics, physiology and psychology.
We are included in the Pre-Games Training Camp Guide for Badminton, Basketball and Fencing; however the facility is designed for multi-purpose sport activity including indoor Hockey, Volleyball, Netball, Table Tennis and Five-a-side Football. There are two viewing galleries to enable elevated video analysis.
Due to the geographical proximity to the main campus and the city centre, there are excellent opportunities for access to the university food court and local restaurants and cafes. There are local facilities for rest and relaxation, creche and child care.
Due to Canterbury Christ Church University's regular participation in British University Sport Association competitions for Basketball and Badminton at the Canterbury venue, we are well placed to organise multiple-sports events.
