Krbs Priestfield Stadium is a modern professional football stadium suitable for training in the Olympic sports of Football and Archery.
The 11,500 capacity stadium is home to Gillingham Football Club which currently play in League One. The stadium, redeveloped in the 1990s includes changing rooms, physiotherapy rooms, a hydrotherapy pool, a sauna and steam room, administration offices, a media centre and kitchens.
The Stadium has executive boxes that can be used to gain an aerial view over training sessions from an indoor location, along with audio-visual playback equipment for further video analysis.
The Stadium has a players’ lounge which contains a cinema and snooker room giving the athletes a comfortable area in which to relax. The pitch measures 104m x 68m, giving a total area of 7,072m². The longer dimension of the pitch lie on an east-west axis.
The Club’s 65-strong hospitality team are able to cater for functions of more than 500 and the stadium has previously been used as a conference venue by the Football League. The ground is regularly used by the Football Association as the host venue for England age-group internationals and England women, the most recent of these being played in November 2007.
Teams training at the Stadium will be accommodated at the nearby Universities at Medway campus, which offers individual en suite rooms for up to 350 athletes and officials.
The universities also have a wide range of meeting and seminar rooms with integrated information, communications, video and audio technology. There is also a fully equipped restaurant plus additional catering facilities in the accommodation.
Hosting experience
Gillingham Football Club’s Priestfield Stadium is regularly used by the Football Association as a venue for England women’s and England age-group internationals.
The England under 18 squad last visited Priestfield in November 2007 when they played Ghana. The England Women’s Team’s last match at the stadium was the European Championship qualifier against Northern Ireland in May 2007.
The stadium hosts corporate hospitality every match-day and is regularly used by major organisations, including the Football League, for conferences and banquets.
Visiting teams and athletes will be welcomed by the club’s hospitality team who are vastly experienced in catering for groups of different sizes and dietary needs.
In addition to our own hosting experience, our partners at Medway Council have extensive experience of hosting major sporting and other events. These include the Tour de France, the Tour of Britain and the Medway Open Butterfly Table Tennis Grand Prix.
Medway is also the host for the 2010 Modern Pentathlon World Cup.
