Volleyball: Beach
Maidstone Leisure Centre is a well located, large wet and dry-side sport and leisure facility, set in Mote Park, consisting of 180ha of parkland and close to the centre of town, hotels, train stations and other local amenities.
Mote Park covers 180 ha of mature parkland and pitches and incorporates a cafe and a lake. The park includes six beach volley ball courts and we have separate, secure male and female changing and shower areas with private entrance, located within the Centre.
The Centre comprises the following facilities:
- Sports Hall, including six badminton courts and 'dry' one metre diving springboard and trampoline rig
- Ancillary hall/dance studio, with semi-sprung wooden floor and climbing wall
- Four multi-purpose rooms, one large, three small
- Three changing areas
- Large external changing area, accessible directly from Mote Park
- 80-station gym/fitness suite
- Sauna & spa
- Creche
- Catering and cafe
- 25m swimming pool
- Three small training pools and one leisure pool
- Diving pit with two, one metre springboards, one, three metre springboard and a five metre platform
- Excellent provision for free car and coach parking
Maidstone has two train stations and excellent motorway links to with London, Gatwick Airport and the port of Dover. The town can provide excellent accommodation in one of its many hotels, all located within a 10 minutes drive to the Centre.
Out of training time Maidstone has a variety of excellent restaurants, shopping and other cultural activities. There are a number of historic and cultural sites to visit in the town and the surrounding area.
Hosting experience
Whilst the facility and park have never hosted a Beach Volleyball event, the facility management, staff team and borough council officers have extensive event and competition management experience. In the last 10 years, we have successfully hosted the following events & competitions:
- British Power Lifting Championships (2006)
- British Masters Diving Championships (annually from 2005) including teams from Italy and Romania
- South East Regional Gymnastics Championships (2005 & 2007)
- National Open Swimming Competition (annually from 2005)
- UK Indoor Croquet Championships regional final
- Two-day concert held in Mote Park for over 20,000 (May 2008)
- Regular theatrical, musical, sporting comedy events, with over 1000 people in attendance
