Penshurst Off Road Cycling (Porc) is a beautiful 25 hectare Kent woodland, one hour from the Olympic Village.
Porc offers the following facilities:
- A 10 km cross-country circuit
- Exciting downhill runs
- World-class BMX track
- One kilometre wheelchair race circuit (tarmac)
- Three kilometre road race circuit (tarmac)
- Jumps, ‘North Shore’ and trials areas
- Several ponds, lakes and the river Eden
- Visitor centre with reception, kitchen, restaurant, office, first aid, showers, changing, meetings and four massage rooms, gym, laundry, bike/wheelchair storeroom
- Office complex with additional showers, toilets, kitchen and laundry
- Sports hall 18.30m x 9.40m x 3.3m clear height with mains water and electricity
- Communications mast
All the buildings have stunning views of the tracks and the surrounding countryside and are fully wheelchair accessible.
Porc is 10 minutes from Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and Edenbridge and 20 minutes from East Grinstead and Sevenoaks.
In between are many pub-hotels and bed and breakfast accommodation of the highest quality. Porc is located just one hour from the Olympic Village and Central London.
A traffic-free cycleway links Porc with Tonbridge mainline station; we are one stop to Ashford International railway station offering links to mainline Europe.
There is parking for at least 300 vehicles on site and thousands of additional spaces within one kilometre.
Hosting experience
For the last 16 years, Porc has hosted cycling events, including:
- Two ‘Sans Frontieres’ international sponsored downhill race series. Porc organised and ran the races in Kent and Pas de Calais.
- Two sponsored national championship “short course” downhills (1996, 1997). Both events won the ’Best event of the year’ award from Mountain Biker International
- Several cross-country (4X) national points races, one of which was filmed and broadcast.
- South of England Cyclo Cross Championship 1993
- Kent County Championships at cross country (cyclo cross), downhill and duel descending
- ‘Women on Wheels’ (WOW) training weekends and two WOW cycling festivals
- Local races sponsored by other cycling clubs, cycling magazines, local newspapers, cycle manufactures & distributors
- Corporate events for cycle retailers, cycle and car manufacturers, film and TV companies
- Cycle race tracks at Olympia 1995 and 96
- Fund raising rides for charities such as World Wildlife Fund, Cancer research and many others
