St Mary's Church in Lower Higham, Kent was built during the Norman period. This isolated church is set on the edge of the Thames’ Marshes and underwent expansion and restoration during the 14th Century. It is believed to be the work of Benedictine nuns who resided close by. he Church is made from ragstone and knapped flint, visitors should see the 14th Century pulpit, the 15th Century chancel screen that is rare for being kept in its original position, and the south door which is noted for its detailed carving and original iron work.
